"Waste No Food" Actions

Order Less Waste Less
Order only the amount of food that you will be able to eat

Avoid ordering too much! We should order only the amount of food that we are able to eat.

Reduce at least two courses at Chinese banquets and order appropriate proportion according to the actual demand. For every reduction of two courses at each table, 3.8 kg of food waste can be saved from ending up in landfills.

Pack up all
Take all the leftovers with your reusable box.

Bring your own reusable boxes to take any leftovers home for later consumption.

It is always the best practice not to leave any leftovers.

No picky eater
Don’t be a picky eater. Eat everything on the plate.

“It’s already fine to finish the meat!” “They are just garnish. Why should I eat them?”

Garnish is greens. Red carrot cubes, cucumber, vegetables are edible, aren’t they? Don’t be a picky eater. We should cherish all the food on the plate and be thankful for every mouthful of food.

"Less Rice, Please"
Ask for less rice in advance if you are aware that you won’t be able to eat them all.

“Less rice, please!”

Remember “order only enough” in restaurants. Ask for less rice in advance if possible.

Don't forget your ordered lunch
Don’t forget any order on food you have placed

If you have ordered food in advance at a school or an office, please do not waste it but try to finish it.

Always inform your family in advance if you are dining out so that they can buy appropriate portion of ingredients and prepare appropriate portion of food.

Share food will bring more joy
Share a meal if both of you have small appetite.

“How about sharing a meal?”

Sharing is a virtue as well as fun! Let’s share a meal if neither of you has a big stomach. Order only enough by ordering appropriate portion or reducing a few courses.

Buy what you need
Plan before you shop. Bargains may not be useful.

Avoid overspending. Don't forget to prepare a shopping list before shopping. It can avoid overloading your fridge and cupboard!

Organise foods by its expiry date and category. Pack and store them accordingly and appropriately to ensure that they are consumed before becoming rotten. This helps reducing wastage.
